Mwasalat (Karwa Motors) wins two awards in China
Mwasalat (Karwa) has bagged
two awards at the sixth Overseas Business Conference hosted by Chinese bus
manufacturer Higer Bus Company in Suzhou city.
A delegation from Mwasalat
attended the conference, where the company received two honours - ‘Outstanding
Contribution Award’ and ‘Excellent Service Station Award’. Khalid Kafoud, Mwasalat,
government relations manager at Karwa, received the awards.
Kafoud highlighted the growth
of operations and fleet strength of Mwasalat over the years “as the company
moves on to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Ministry of Transport
and Communications and Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Mwasalat received the awards
for the important role it played in its strategic collaboration with Chinese
Higer Bus Company for more than 12 years. It included the rise of Higer and the
capability of Mwasalat (Karwa) to provide efficient and excellent after-sales
services, which satisfied its customers at all levels, according to a
statement.
In addition, Mwasalat has
established bus maintenance and services facilities, and hired a skilled
workforce and engineers who have taken training from original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) contractors such as Higer, the major supplier for the bus
fleet.
The strategic collaboration
between the two companies culminated in the agreement to establish Karwa Motors
plant (a subsidiary of Mwasalat - Karwa and Oman Investment Fund) in a joint venture
to establish a bus assembly plant in Duqm, Oman.
Karwa Motors is due to start
production by the end of 2019, which will cater to the needs of the two
countries and the region.
